SENATE CANDIDATE:  WE’LL FIX NAFTA OR END IT!
(Oakland County)  Former Oakland County Republican Executive Committee member Bart Baron announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate.  Baron indicated that when elected he would take action to reduce the U.S. trade deficit that has escalated to over $300 Billion annually with China, Canada and Mexico combined.  “If elected, I will spend my entire first year in office researching and rewriting the inequities of the NAFTA/GATT/PNTR and WTO policies that have led to the erosion of American Manufacturing jobs and sovereignty and sent hundreds of thousands of workers to the unemployment lines”.  Baron proclaimed, we’ll end the need for the phrase “we got the Shafta from NAFTA” and other trade treaties; and we will ask ALL Americans to make their congressional representatives aware that unless this is done they, and they alone, will pay a heavy price at the ballot box.  I can promise you that!  Furthermore we’ll do what needs to be done to protect the American Worker, the Michigan Economy, the American Economy and the Security of this Nation.

We must immediately close our porous borders and address all illegal immigration
and the abuse of H1B visas and other visas by certain private sector employers.  We must first protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness of American Citizens
who continue to build this great country, fight its wars and pay its taxesMy devotion and dedication is simple: Michigan first and America, first.

Two other issues requiring immediate attention are the health-care system and the education system.

I will work to get our best minds focused to develop workable solutions to those two massive sectors of our economy.  The current systems have FAILED.  No excuses, no band-aids, no partisan bickering and no protectionism, just good American Ingenuity used to solve our problems.

The NAFTA Agreement passed a Democratic Congress and was signed into law by a Democratic President without the threat of a veto!  The China Trade Treaty, whose passage was uncertain, passed with bi-partisan support, and was championed by a Michigan Democratic US House Member and signed by a Democratic President.  Not one Michigan Senator has even attempted to introduce any measure to alleviate NAFTA’s and other poorly negotiated trade treaty’s tsunami like effects on the economy and manufacturing jobs, particularly here in Michigan, where we have been affected more than any other state in the Nation.

Baron’s extensive 40 year manufacturing background is highlighted by his expertise as Corporate Director of Supplier Quality for Harley Davidson, Corporate V.P. of Operations for Diversified Industries, VP Lean Enterprise for Fairchild Fasteners a division of ALCOA, Vice-Chairman of the Lean Business Systems Committee for the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG).  Additionally, Baron has been a member of the blue ribbon national award winning Troy Community Coalition an organization dedicated to today’s youth.   He can be reached at:
